 Yorktown - Nelson House - Constructed about 1730 - on corner of Main & Nelson Streets in Historic Yorktown. Was owned by General Thomas Nelson, Jr., one of signers of Declaration of Independence. |
 Yorktown - Nelson House - Solid stone brick faced falls were 32" thick. (See how deep window opening is.) Cannon ball hit in one room didn't damage outside, but knocked some bricks loose on inside. |

 Lee Hall Mansion - Constructed in 1858. At North end of Newport News. Confederate Generals used the house as a command headquarters in 1862 during the Civil War. Interesting Tour. Allow about an hour. |
 Berkeley Plantation - (about 35 minutes southwest of Williamsburg off of Scenic SR 5.) 1726 Georgian Mansion on large very well landscaped grounds. Birthplace of Benjamin Harrison V, a signer of Declaration of Independence and William Henry Harrison, 9th US President. Song "Taps" was composed here. Interesting constumed Guide tours of Mansion.  Jamestown National Historic Site Church - approx 350 year old area which was first permanent Colony in New World from England. (At west end of Colonial Parkway) Restored Church & buildings + archelogical digs & more. Very interesting & educational. About 90 minutes northwest of Virginia Beach Allow 2-3 hours to view. New Town section of Old James City (1620's) is nearby with 1 mile self guided Walking Trail. Jamestown Settlement area is also close by with replicas of the three original ships, three outdoor Living History areas, a Colonial Fort, and an idea of what life was like in the early 1600's.
