First Landing State Park - (757) 412-2300 - (Reservation # is below)

Park has 2 entrances. East access and boat ramp area is at Atlantic Avenue and 64th St. - West access and Chesapeake Bay Visitors Center is on south side of road at 2500 Shore Drive approximately a mile west of stoplite on corner where Atlantic Avenue curves west into Shore Drive.

Most visited State Park in Virginia with over a million visitors per year. The park serves as a Virginia Beach Tourism location and has new displays and three indoor aquariums.

Free admission, parking fee. Camping, Cabins, and RV Campground sites. 216 campsites with and without electricity and water hookups + 20 rental cabins. RV's up to 50 foot length. Boat Ramp, General Store + bike, fishing rod, and Kayak rentals & tours.

East access and boat ramp area at Atlantic Avenue and 64th St. - West access and Chesapeake Bay Visitors Center is on south side at 2500 Shore Drive about a mile west of stoplite on corner where Atlantic Ave curves west into Shore Drive.

South side of Shore Drive Park area has unimproved beach areas and camp sites, some which front onto two Bays. Also semitropical forests with large cypress trees, lagoons, and 19 miles of hiking and self guided nature trails + a beautiful bicycle trail.

False Cape State Park - Five miles south of Black Bay Refuge area, at south end of Sandbridge Road. Undeveloped area on the Atlantic Coast. Migratory Birds + a variety of other wildlife, plants and trees.

Primitive backpack camping only. No open fires are allowed. No vehicle access. Pit toilets only, water available is not suitable for drinking. You must carry everything in, including water, and pack your trash out. Tent Camping is available by reservation and is not recommended for young children, inexperienced campers, or those who might need emergency medical care.
Tip  Don't forget bug repellant! All overnight campers must bring two copies of their camping reservation confirmation letter or fax so need to plan ahead

Large Campground / RV Park.  1000 tent, trailer, and RV sites + 44 cabins on 100 acres with many trees. Four swimming pools + kids pool. All sites have a picnic table. Resort offers free parking one block from the Virginia Beach oceanfront + a bike path to the beach. Three stores, 3 dump stations, + Gas, diesel, and propane on site. "Active" RV Resort with a lot going on - good for families with kids.

We found several very good user reviews of this well maintained RV park campground that is geared more to families without kids. A new large oceanfront resort with many shops and some restaurants has recently opened across the street.
