Wide sandy beach at Cocoa Beach - We walked it a lot
My Wife and I Timeshare exchanged to an Oceanfront Condo at Ocean Landings in Cocoa Beach, FL a couple of years ago in late May. Great beach area! We spent a lot of time walking on the wide sandy beach and watching the ocean surf, especially in the early mornings when we could watch the sun coming up over the ocean. Saw some beautiful Ocean Sunrises.
The view from our 3rd floor balcony overlooking the Ocean was wonderful! The 1 Bedroom Condo we had was plenty big for the 2 of us and would have been OK for 4 since the living room couch made into a bed and the unit had 2 full baths.
The Condo had a full kitchen with dishwasher and full sized appliances. The eating area where the dining room table sits could have been a bit larger, but had a good view of the ocean.
The Unit was clean and in good repair, as was the grounds and pool area. We checked out some tennis rackets and played a couple of games on one of the tennis courts and even tried out the equipment in the exercise room one day.
We did not eat at the on-site restaurant since we were going for the waterfront restaurants with a view from the Cocoa Beach Restaurant List on this Web Site. Our favorite waterfront restaurant was "Grills" up at the Port area about 10 minutes away.
The view was actually slightly better of the big cruise ships at the port from the nearby "Fish Lips" 2nd floor open dining deck, but we liked the lunch menu selections better at Grills and they served good breakfasts.
There is a lot to do in the Cocoa Beach area, not to mention the fact that you are only about an hour and 15 minutes from Disney World, Sea World, or Universal Studios. We drove over to Sea World one day.
Our favorite local attraction was the Cape Canaveral Space Center Tour, but a close second was a Kayak boat guided tour where we paddled around in the Indian River and a marsh area and got to see some friendly manatees that came right up to our boat so you could reach out and pet them. My wife thought that was great, but she wouldn't let me use the picture here!
Ocean Landings Resort Tip. Be SURE you get a unit in one of the two newer Oceanfront buildings - Carribean or Dream Vs in the off-ocean older buildings. The two newer oceanfront buildings were built as Timeshare Condos I would guess about 20 years ago and are laid out very well as oceanfront vacation units.
The Resort was originally a large Motel, and the other non-oceanfront units are motel rooms converted into condos with partial or mini-kitchens by combining 2 rooms and remodeling. None of them have an ocean view and they are much smaller. The rates are less if you are renting however, and all units in the Resort have access to the beach and Resort pools, etc.
We would like to go back to Ocean Landings Resort and would give it 5 stars. We definitely want to vacation to Cocoa Beach, Florida again.
